The Thrill of the Chase

Baby Girl has learned quite a few things lately. She's been pulling herself up to stand a lot, she figured out hands-and-knees crawling rather than just scooting on her tummy, and Friday when she crawled over and grabbed the computer's power cord, I said "No." and she let go and looked at me. That's right, my 7 month old seems to have learned the meaning of the word "no". The most adorable yet heartbreaking thing she has learned lately is maybe a week and a half ago, she figured out how to chase people. Now when we're all in the living room, if I go to the kitchen to get a drink or something, she follows me if she is on the floor, and sometimes she fusses while doing it. Talk about cute! Talk about guilt-inducing!

Fun with Egg Dye

Last Easter, after the eggs were colored, I used the extra mixed dye to drip-dye a T-shirt and a hoodie, and to dye a large piece of lace. This year, I didn't have clothes on hand that I wanted to dye, but I did have cotton string. I am so looking forward to using it.

The Nursery Mural

Now that I know how to upload photos, I can share the sea creatures mural that we painted in Baby Girl's room. There is a sea turtle(definitely the one I am most proud of), a ray, a jelly fish, a crab, a nurse shark (I know, I like the pun too; it was my husband's idea and he painted it all himself), a school of fish(also painted by my husband), coral, sea weed, a pair of sea horses (still need details), and a squid (still needs a lot more painted, which is why there is only a teaser picture).

A Little Market Research

I reopened my Etsy shop, also called BudgieTree , as planned in January, and I currently have a couple things up for sale there. I'm trying to decide what to post next.
I have three more pendants that I made (see photos), which all go with the post-apocalyptic/repurposed materials aesthetic that I currently have going in my shop. I also have some supplies that I'm looking to destash, which could bring some different traffic to my shop. The third thing I'm pondering is whether to stay strictly within the style confines of post-apocalyptic and steampunk inspired items that feature found/repurposed materials, or to branch out in to fairy-themed items (which is what I'm feeling inspired to make at the moment). If any of my readers has any thoughts or suggestions, I'd like to hear them.

So Productive It Is Sick*

So Friday I came down with a cold and decided I should take it easy for the weekend. Since then, on top of my usual laundry/baby stuff/grocery shopping/work routine, I tidied the baby's room, swept, vacuumed, cleaned out the bunny's cage and let her out to exercise, looked in to switching our banking to the credit union (who knew that all these credit unions everywhere are networked? I can go to a local credit union in Buffalo, and make a deposit in to my PA credit union account), moved stuff to the storage room, updated our car insurance, deleted all my spam e-mail, turned my compost heap, cleared the neighbor's fallen shingles from our side yard, posted here on my blog twice, converted the fire pit that came with our house in to a planter, and caught up on some reading. Something about this cold (or maybe just this weekend) has made me crank up the productivity.
[I wrote this the other day and just noticed that it failed to post successfully]
